IDEAL INDUSTRIES has introduced its new HeatSeeker™ Thermal Imager, an affordable thermography solution for the predictive maintenance of electrical and mechanical systems. Less cumbersome to use than traditional thermal imagers, the handheld HeatSeeker was designed to meet the stringent standards for performance set by professional electricians, engineers and building inspectors. “Whether you’re troubleshooting an industrial pump or checking air distribution in a duct, you want a thermal imager you can depend on to work quickly and accurately,” explained Dave Skowronski, Product Manager of IDEAL’s Test & Measurement Group. “We engineered the HeatSeeker to ensure a precise, highly functional diagnostic tool that was simple to use for detection and post analysis.”

Thomas & Betts has introduced a new Push- In Luminaire Disconnect that enables electricians to change ballasts safely and easily without having to trip the main power breaker. The Sta-Kon® Luminaire Disconnect is for use in all non-residential fluorescent lighting applications up to 4A, 600V, and complies with 2008 NEC® 410.130(G), CEC 30-308(4) and UL2459. Installation is as simple as stripping the wires and inserting them in the housings. The disconnect halves snap together and can be disengaged easily, but the integral latch prevents accidental disengagement. The housings are also designed to eliminate incorrect installation and reverse polarity, and are finger-safe on both sides. The ballast hot-lead wire entry is color-coded in black for easy visibility.

Leviton Manufacturing announced its “Make the Switch” promotional campaign designed to create awareness of ”green” electrical devices that can be installed in place of standard light switches in homes and business environments to conserve electricity and protect the environment. The campaign kicked off on April 22nd, the 40th anniversary of Earth Day and included discounted pricing on featured ”green” products along with high-impact merchandising displays, take ones, web advertising, live webinar training, a public relations campaign, videos, promotional items, counter mats and in-store banners.

Electri-Flex Company announced the release of a new line of steel fixture whips that are being introduced initially in the Midwest. Plans for national distribution will be announced at a later date. These flexible metal, pre-assembled whips can be used for lighting fixture installation, as well as many other electrical equipment uses. Fixture whips help reduce jobsite labor and material costs. They consist of six feet of UL listed flexible metal conduit, stranded THHN wire with 6” leads, and internal, zinc die-cast fittings with steel locknuts. Standard sizes include 12, 14 and 18 gauge wire and multiple color configurations. Solid conductors and snap-in connectors are available upon request.

Lutron offers its Maestro Wireless® family of controls that make it easy to create energy-saving light control solutions for both commercial and residential applications. A simple solution starts with just two products, which can scale to as many as ten in a single room or small area. Maestro Wireless switches, dimmers, lamp dimmers, and plug-in modules communicate using Lutron’s reliable Clear Connect™ RF Technology and can integrate with Radio Powr Savr™ wireless occupancy/vacancy and daylight sensors, and Pico wireless controls. This family of products works together to save energy in any commercial or residential space. Both the Radio Powr Savr wireless sensors and Pico wireless controls can be installed with no additional wiring, and without breaking through walls or ceilings to pull wire.

ILSCO announced an addition to its NIMBUS line of preinsulated connectors. NIMBUS- 4FLEX accepts a wide range of fine stranded and standard conductors in single-side, dualside, and mountable configurations. NIMBUS4FLEX accepts B,C,H,I,K,M and DLO conductor classes and is available in 2, 3, 4 or 6 ports. The removable plugs are Reflex Blue to differentiate them from the standard NIMBUS offering. The patent pending set screws are reusable so replacement wire sleeves are not required. The entire line of NIMBUS connectors are UL Listed, CSA Certified and dual rated for copper or aluminum conductors.
